Learning the Skills

Description

The title is in honor of the soundtrack song that corresponds with these training scenes (and when I say "soundtrack" I mean the real soundtrack with the actual music from the movie composed by James Newton Howard, not the "Songs from District 12" or whatever nonsense it is that people keep calling the "soundtrack" )

Anyway, this was super fun but super challenging! The hair was the hardest part, and I ended up not putting as much detail into (loose hairs and whatnot) it as I probably could/should have, but I don't mind that much because then you can still kinda tell it's a painting. The braid was harder than the rest of the hair, but I divided it all up into different sections (as you can see in the WIPs) and colored in each one at a time so that made it a little easier.

My favorite part is her right (our left) eye... I had it zoomed in to 400% while I was working on it and when I got it done and zoomed back out to look at it I rendered myself temporarily speechless. lol I'm very proud of that eye... a detail shot can be found here --> [link]

Once again it was kinda tricky blending all the colors in her cheeks because Jennifer Lawrence's face is soooooo round! A person can't just swirl colors willy nilly ;)

lol and I remembered to add her moles this time! I forgot in my Girl on Fire pencil drawing and my mom freaked at me :XD: She's been going on and on about how much she appreciated all the close-up shots of all the characters in the movie and how they all had blemishes and chapped lips and stuff and it showed that none of them are perfect and that they weren't trying to be perfect (she actually has a good point there  ) But she was hovering around yesterday while I was working on this and was like "...are you going to add the moles?" which basically translated to "don't forget the moles" so I did them :P

Anyway, now I've just got to finish up my Seneca Crane painting, which probably won't happen until at least Sunday considering I'll be gone all weekend, and then I swear I'm going back to pencils for a little while. I've got a lovely Jim Caviezel sketch planned ;p

Done over... like... 4 days, maybe 7 hours or so total... I was doing pretty good at keeping track there for awhile and then I failed. Anyway, with GIMP and my Wacom tablet :D

Katniss is portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence.

This picture is so perfect I at first thought it to be a photograph. I have been a massive fan of Jennifer’s for six years and I know her face like the back of my hand. The addition of her beauty marks (which so many people forget) makes this a perfect representation of the most beautiful girl on the planet.

I adore the detail you have put into her eyes. They are, for me, the best part of her face which is beautiful.

I love your painting and want to see more. Thank you for doing such a realistic portrayal of Jennifer.

I agree with you on the soundtrack issue as well.
